in kansas city, missouri, and across much of the football world after a horrible tragedy that has left an nfl star player and his girlfriend dead in an apparent murder-suicide. police say kansas city chiefs linebacker jovan belcher shot the 22-year-old woman before he headed to the stadium he was expected to play in tomorrow afternoon. it was there he turned the gun on himself. thanh truong joins us from arrowhead stadium in kansas city. good evening. >> reporter: good evening to you. arrowhead stadium is a symbol of pride for this city and the kansas city chiefs but there is a lot of sorrow here right now after a deadly day ended not far from where i'm standing. shortly before 8:00 this morning, gunfire erupted at this kansas city suburban home. >> when we arrived, a lady came out and said her daughter had been shot by her boyfriend several times inside the residence. we went in the residence. she was taken to the local hospital where she died a short time later. >> reporter: just ten minutes later at arrowhead stadium a man with a gun. >> we got a call at the arrowhead stadium to the

who has expressed some opposition to plan b and did so yesterday is tim huelskamp of kansas. he was our guest here this morning on "washington journal." host: joining us is representative tim huelskamp, a republican of kansas, just re-elected to serve in his western kansas district. representative huelskamp, newtown and potential to gun laws before we move into some of the fiscal issues. what's your take on the current mood in the country and the potential mood in congress on changing the gun laws? guest: well, peter, it's a tragic situation and i have four children, 17 and under, including a 6-year-old. so it's pretty close to home. the new mood i see in congress is hopefully we don't move with too much haste and do things that we might regret. we haven't seen any proposals, and so i've just been hopeful we let folks mourn and look at that. i don't support any changes. i think it's an individual problem. we had a -- there's some mental illness related issues tied in here that are separate. i do obviously impact -- it does obviously impact the situation. most of my constituents
. >> ben farmer in afghanistan. thank you. >>> just seven hours from now, the kansas city chiefs will play the carolina panther, the team deciding not to reschedule the game after linebacker jovan belcher shot his girlfriend in front of her mother and then driving to the training facility where he shot himself in front of the coach and general manager. casey wine is in kansas city for us this morning. local media report the two had a fight after a concert friday night. what do you know about that? >> reporter: we don't know much about the concert that the kansas city star is reporting about. we do know police say there was some sort of argument either late friday night or early saturday morning before this tragic -- these two tragic shootings happened. we spoke last night with a next door neighbor of jovan belcher and of his girlfriend. they had been living in that house for about a year, the neighbor told us. the neighbor did not want us to use his name. he said that the two appeared to have been getting along very, very well. they had a baby just three months ago, born on september 11th.
